More about me:

I don’t like to think that only people who have “problems” come to therapy because when we say that a person has problems, that can make it feel like there is something wrong with them. I don’t believe there is anything wrong with the people who come to counseling, and I don’t believe there is anything wrong with the clients I see.

What I do believe is that life is a journey with mountaintops (highs) and deep valleys (lows), and it’s okay to ask for help when you find yourself—or your loved ones—in an unexpected place.

Working with a genuine and caring professional can help you look at things in a different way, facilitate change, and promote health and healing. Gaining insight into yourself and your Creator brings hope and meaning—to me, that is invaluable.

My Approach

My Specialties Include:

Anxiety & Depression,
Trauma & PTSD,
Domestic Violence,
Infidelity,
Parenting & Family Issues,
Couples & Marriage Issues

Change happens in relationship.

Research has shown that one of the most important factors in counseling is the relationship between the client and the professional—not the license they hold, the modality they use, or even how long they have been practicing. Finding the right therapist is key in the therapeutic process and success in treatment.

I am highly innovative with therapeutic intervention, skill, and technique. My experience, expertise, and genuine, caring nature have allowed me to build strong relationships with the individuals and families I work with.

As your counselor, my goal is for you to experience increased hope and meaning in your life and in your loved ones’ lives. I offer support for children, teens, adult individuals, and couples who are struggling with a variety of concerns.

I am open, honest, and direct, and I work collaboratively with you to meet your desired goals and outcomes. Together, we will identify both large goals and smaller, practical steps to help you move forward.

Specialized Focus and Clinical Methods

Play Therapy
When I work with children, I use play therapy to help them express what they’re thinking and feeling—especially when they don’t have the words for it yet. Kids naturally communicate through play, and this gives them a safe way to process what’s going on, build coping skills, and start working through challenges without feeling overwhelmed.

Family Systems
In my experience, when one person in a family is struggling, it rarely stays isolated. Families are connected, and patterns develop over time. In family systems work, we look at those patterns—how people communicate, respond, and relate to each other—and begin making changes that lead to healthier, more stable relationships across the whole family.

Trauma Work (TF-CBT)
There are times when past experiences still affect how we think, feel, and relate to others. I use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you process those experiences in a structured and manageable way. Whether I’m working with a child, teen, or adult, the goal is to reduce the weight of what you’ve been carrying and help you move forward with healthier ways to cope.

Solution-Focused Therapy
I don’t believe in staying stuck in the problem longer than necessary. A solution-focused approach helps us shift toward what’s working, identify your strengths, and take clear, practical steps forward. Whether you’re coming in as an individual, couple, or family, we’re working toward real change—not just talking about it.

Clinical Supervision
I also provide clinical supervision for Marriage & Family Therapists and Licensed Professional Counselors who are working toward licensure. I value creating a supportive and honest space where developing clinicians can grow in their confidence, strengthen their clinical skills, and navigate the challenges that come with this work. My approach to supervision is both practical and relational, with a focus on helping you become the kind of therapist you want to be.

Background

I am a qualified mental health professional with over 20 years of experience working with youth, adults, and families in a variety of settings.

I obtained my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu, a small private Christian university, where my training supported both clinical excellence and a deeper understanding of purpose and meaning.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in private practice, schools, community clinics, and specialized treatment programs. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, as well as individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, and complex life circumstances.

I have provided counseling in both clinical and community-based settings, including work as a bilingual therapist and forensic evaluator with children and families involved in abuse investigations, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams such as CPS, law enforcement, medical providers, and social service agencies.

Within the school system, I served as a Special Education Counselor, Coordinator of Family Services, and Co-Founder of a Family Center in Denton Independent School District, where I helped develop and implement programs designed to support students and their families through behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges.

My background also includes working in integrated healthcare settings, pastoral counseling, residential treatment programs, and psychiatric day treatment, where I provided therapy, behavioral support, case management, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to guide treatment and progress.

In addition, I have experience with animal-assisted therapy and equine-assisted psychotherapy, as well as behavior modification and skills training for individuals with developmental and behavioral needs.

I also serve as a clinical supervisor for both Marriage & Family Therapists and Licensed Professional Counselors, providing guidance and support to other clinicians as they grow in their professional work.

A Little More About Me:

When I am not inspiring change at work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, and with my dog, Cosmo (a Morkie). I value staying active through fitness and enjoy traveling when I have the opportunity, especially when it gives me a chance to reset and recharge.

My faith is an important part of my life, and I’m actively involved in my local church where I serve and lead a team. Being part of that community continues to shape who I am, both personally and professionally, and influences the way I show up for the people I work with.

I believe who we are outside of the office matters just as much as the work we do inside it, and I try to live in a way that reflects the same values I bring into the counseling room.

What’s Next:

Thank you for investing in yourself and/or your loved one. The next step is to schedule an intake with me, consultation, or meet and greet. At intake we talk about the therapeutic process, identify your major concerns, and talk about how I can help. I am a dedicated practitioner committed to your growth and can’t wait to get stared with you.
